Nice has made a name for itself:
• Nice won the Equerre d'Argent (Silver T-square) Prize for its creation of the multimodal tram area.The architectural marvel has exemplary integrated into the urban fabric environment. The prize, handed over on 2 February by Christine Albanel, Minister for the Arts, supports the Town as far as sustainable development is concerned, particularly through the development of public transport, which, through its unit price of €1, has increased travellers' traffic by 35%.
• Nice won the "Town centre excellence area prize": More than 120 towns took part in the competition. With a 17/20 mark, Nice distanced itself through the qualities of its town-planning projects (Port layout, line 2 tram, pedestrian zone on the Paillon River, Cap de Nice footpath, etc.

Check In at Paris evening
On 1 April, the Nice Convention and Tourist Office, in partnership with the Cannes SEMEC and the Antibes-Juan-les-Pins Tourist Office, organised an evening at Bobino's. The professional meeting exclusively for Parisian receptive agencies working in the leisure tourist domain assembled 200 people. A large French Riviera delegation went in order to show the synergy of Côte d'Azur towns, their common undertaking towards the intermediaries and providing the collaboration of all the local tourism proponents.

Nice will be welcoming the 2010 "Rendez-Vous en France"
The international professional fair for French tourism, "Rendez-Vous en France" will be taking place on 30 and 31 March 2010. Nice, the second French tourist destination with 4 million visitors per year, has all the assets for accommodating the 800 French and foreign tour operators for two days who will be coming to meet the 660 exhibitors representing the French tourist offer. It should be remembered that "Rendez-Vous en France" is the biggest event organized by the French Government Tourist Office.

Pass Transport for convention participants
Something new at Nice on the business side! Nice has launched its Pass Transport for convention participants! From now on, starting for as little as €0.80 per day, convention participants may have free access to the whole Nice urban and inter-urban transport network (+)

Acropolis' improvements
The indoor areas of the Palais des Congrès et des Exposition Nice Acropolis will be having important renovations. Architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte was chosen to renovate the building built in the 80s and managed by the GL Events group since 2007.
The good results recorded by the Nice Acropolis in 2008 with 220,000 related nights in hotel rooms against the 124,000 in 2007 are worth noting. Nice is the first French business tour destination after Paris, a sector representing 35% of all the annual tourist revenues for the town (+)

Renovations continue in the hotels of Nice
The NH Nice **** (former Sofitel), located near the Acropolis-Expositions has announced the end of its improvement work. After 1 year of work and 3 million euros invested in it, the hotel of the NH Hoteles group is from now on proposing a Zen and modern atmosphere on every floor. Seminar rooms have also profited from a new look. Don't forget to take advantage of the terrace and its pool on the roof! (+)

Focus on ...
The 2009 Heart Failure Congress will be taking place at Nice from 30 May to 2 June at the Palais Acropolis. The European congress on cardiac insufficiency should be bringing together between 3,000 and 4,000 people. For the first time, sessions in French will be especially organized so that Francophone nurses and GPs can share their experience without any language barriers (+)
